Things you DIDN'T know about Sonic The Hedgehog

Sonic The Hedgehog is one of the most legendary games next to Super Mario Bros, Legend Of Zelda, and Pokémon. I will be showcasing things you probably didn't know about the Sonic Series.

Origin and First 3 Games

Back in 1991, SEGA was getting tired of their old mascot, Alex Kid. So SEGA decided they should make a new mascot, and the decisions were various.

The concept designs for Sonic were, a bulldog, an American wolf, a rabbit, a hedgehog(chosen as Sonic), and a sleepy guy in pajamas(later to be Eggman).

Now they had to choose a name to match the hedgehog, and their first decision was Mr. Needle Mouse, Later on scraped.

One thing they all knew that was in plan was that it was not going to be like Super Mario Brothers, it was going to be a fast action platformer, so they chose a more fitting name, Sonic. But then they had to make a badguy, and they chose the guy in pajamas! And Sonic The Hedgehog was born!

Later on they made a sequel, Sonic The Hedgehog 2. But they wanted Sonic to have a partner, or a sidekick. So they chose Miles, which fitted in most out of the others.

But then he had 2 tails, so they made his nickname Tails. But now everyone prefers to call him Tails! Options were various, but out of all, they chose a fox.

Now Sonic and Tails are on to their next adventure, starring Knuckles!

Shield Prototypes

Various options again with Knuckles. One thing they decided before his name, that he would be Sonic's rival. First, they thought about him being a hedgehog or a cat. That also explains why Knuckles hates anyone who calls him a hedgehog or Sonic in Sonic X.

They already got down that he will have shades. Which in Sonic The Hedgehog Ova, 1999, that Knuckles had on his prototype shades.

One thing you really didn't know, was that Michael Jackson was a last minute replacement for the music. SEGA is to embarrassed to emit, so they put their original music they would originally have had in Sonic Origins. Fans were sad about their favorite Ice Cap Zone music getting replaced.

That is why Sonic The Hedgehog 3 came out one year late, 1994.

Who remade the Sonic Design of today?

1999 SEGA had decided to make a new game, with new designs. Someone called Yuji Uekawa redesigned Sonic and others to look more slimmer and mature.

Sonic's Family

SEGA was thinking about Sonic having family, which actually relates to Shadow The Hedgehog, years before he was created, in 2002.

Amy was also going to be Sonic's sister or cousin, until SEGA decided to just make Amy want to marry Sonic, not already be part of his family.

Here it shows who was supposed to be in Sonic's family, but later on turn out to be friends, rivals, and frenemies.

Even though, Sonic's family is unknown; other then in a old show, Sonic Underground, where it was based off of Sonic and his two siblings, Sonia and Manic, trying to find their mother.
